Saint Jude the Apostle Relic Bracelet
Died in the 1st
Century BCE in Persia
Feast Day: October 28th & June 19th
ST. JUDE, also known as
St. Jude Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and
a relative of our Savior Jesus Christ. According to ancient
writers, St. Jude preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria,
Idumaea, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Libya. In 62 CE, he
returned to Jerusalem to assist in the election of his
brother St. Simeon, as bishop of Jerusalem. Around 65 CE, St
Jude suffered martyrdom in Armenia (Beirut, Lebanon) with
the apostle St. Simon the Zealot.
|
He is also often shown with a flame around his head, to represent his
presence at the Pentecost (when he received the Holy Spirit
with the other apostles).
He is the patron saint of lost causes,
desperate situations, hospital workers, forgotten causes,
hospitals, and impossible causes.

A Call to Persevere
by St. Jude
“But you, dear friends,
build yourselves up in your most holy faith
and pray in the Holy Spirit.
Keep yourselves in the love of God as you wait
for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
to bring you to eternal life.”
— Jude 1:20-21
Prayer to
Saint Jude
St. Jude, glorious Apostle,
faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the name of the traitor has caused you
to be forgotten by many,
but the true Church invokes you universally
as the Patron of things despaired of;
pray for me, that finally I may receive the consolations
and the succor of Heaven in all my necessities,
tribulations, and sufferings,
particularly (here make your request),
and that I may bless God with the Elect
throughout Eternity.
Amen. |
