Saint Anthony of Padua Relic Bracelet
Born at Lisbon, Portugal in 1195
Died at Padua, Italy on June 13, 1231
Canonized by Pope Gregory IX on May 30,1232, in Spoleto, Italy
ST. ANTHONY, Priest
and Doctor of the Church, entered the order of Austin Canons
but became a Franciscan in 1220. As a gifted speaker, he attracted crowds everywhere he went, speaking in multiple tongues.
According to legend, miracles occurred around him: the fish
at Rimini loved to listen to his sermons, the mule that
knelt before the Blessed Sacrament, and the story of how his
host saw St. Anthony holding the Child Jesus in his arms
when he looked into a window. As a result,
he is typically depicted with a book and the Infant
Child Jesus. Wonder worker. One of the most beloved of saints, his images and statues are found everywhere.
He is the patron saint of the poor, those who have suffered a loss,
finder of lost articles,
orphans, prisoners,
shipwrecked persons, pregnant women, sick
children, glaziers, and conscripts.
